# Heat Generation

**What it does:** Applies a total heat generation power to a selected region.

**Common uses:**

* A boundary condition in a thermal analysis.

**Tips:**

* The quantity of heat generation is distributed across the entities based on the volume fraction.
* The Magnitude is the Power of the heat generation. The basic units shown for this input are g-mm^2/s^3. These are the basic units for W or J/s.
