# Initial Temperature

## About this Block

**What it does:** This block is used to define the baseline temperature to be used in thermal stress analysis.

**Commons uses:**

* A boundary condition in a thermal stress analysis.

**Tips:**

* Use it with an **Applied Temperature** boundary condition.
* The thermal stress is calculated from the difference between the initial temperature and the applied temperature.

***

Defines the baseline temperature to be used in a thermal stress analysis. Thermal stress will be calculated from the difference between the initial temperature and the applied temperature load.
