# Isotropic Thermal Expansion Property

## About this Block

**What it does:** Assigns a Coefficient of Thermal Expansion to an **Isotropic Material**.

**Common uses:**

* An input in defining an **Isotropic Material**.
* For conducting a **Thermal Analysis**.

**Tips:**

* Create spatially varying properties by using Scalar Fields as inputs.

Defines an Isotropic Thermal Expansion Property by specifying the coefficient of thermal expansion. Providing a scalar field as input will result in a spatially varying material property.
