# When opening the software an "Entry Point Not Found" message appears

## Issue:

* nTop fails to open because of outdated Windows OS
* The following error message appears:

**ntop.exe - Entry Point Not Found**
The procedure entry point GetUserDefaultGeoName could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\nTop\nTop Platform\ntop.exe. *Kernel32.dll could not be found.*

## Applies To:

* nTop
* Windows 10
* Windows Server 2019

## Cause:

This error message is caused by a missing function with an outdated operating system, Microsoft Windows 10 version 1709 or newer is required for nTop.

## Solution:

Verify your version of Windows 10 with the following steps:

1. Click **Start > Settings > System > About**
2. Look under **Windows Specifications** to check which edition and version your system is running.

If your operating system is older than Windows 10 version 1709, install the latest Windows updates.
