# How to identify the version of nTop used to create an exported .implicit file

## Question:

How to identify the version of nTop used to create an exported .implicit file.

## Applies to:

* .implicit files

## Answer:

To determine the software version associated with an implicit body file:

1. Locate the file, right-click it, select **Open with**, and choose a standard text editor (such as **Notepad** or **Notepad++**).
2. Look at the very first line of the file header.
3. Find the "app\_version" metadata field.

Example: In the header \{"app\_name":"nTop","app\_version":"5.44.2"...}, the file was created using nTop version 5.44.2.

And that's it! You've successfully identified the nTop version used to generate your implicit file.
