# Can I perform convection and radiation analysis on beam elements?

Is it possible to use beam elements for convection or radiation?

## Applies to:

* nTop 3.9.3
* Thermal Analysis

## Answer:

Only thermal conductivity works with beam elements. We do not support convection and radiation for beams since they require faces to work.
