About this Block
The Extrusion Constraint block serves as a Topology Optimization constraint, which causes the TopOpt result to have a consistent profile along the direction of a specified curve. The curve input should start and end outside of the domain of the volume mesh used in the TopOpt. The curve input can be curved or straight, but the Line Segment block can not be used as input. Instead, use a Curve through Control Points block, and place the start and end points of the Line Segment into the curve’s point list. When using an extrusion constraint, it is suggested to set the boundary penalty to 0 in the topology optimization block.Example File
Download Example: Extrusion Constraint In the example file, a Topology Optimization using an extrusion constraint is performed. The extrusion follows a straight line.
Curve (old)
Define a geometric extrusion constraint to be enforced in the optimization result. The result will be a 2.5D design of the face along the provided curve. The boundary conditions are not restricted to the 2D domain. Note that for best results using extrusion constraint, it is suggested that the Boundary penalty be set to 0. Inputs| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Curve | Curve (old) | Guide curve. the curve should follow the full design and must remain perpendicular to the design. please provide a curve that starts at or before the beginning of the design, and ends at or after the end of the design. |
