There are four different status types that a block can be in. They are:

Beta

Production

Deprecated

End of Life

Beta

Beta blocks are blocks that are in development and may be subject to change before transitioning to a full release. They are made available to users seeking early access to upcoming features.Beta blocks have the word ‘Beta’ written on the block.
We do not recommend Beta blocks for production workflows. Beta blocks are subject to increased updates and changes, which may cause issues in production workflows.
To enable Beta blocks, go to File > Settings and check the Show Beta Blocks box.
A Beta tab will show up in the Ribbon once the Show Beta blocks option is turned on. You can search for Beta blocks in the Searchbar by typing in “beta”. Add a Beta block to your Notebook to use it.To see the full list of Beta blocks, go to Documentation > Block Documentation > Blocks > Beta.
The timeline for each block to be in Beta varies depending on the testing and development ongoing for that block.
If you find a bug while using a Beta block, contact support with the following information: issue, file, crash files if applicable, and the steps to reproduce.

Production

All blocks in Production status are tested blocks that have been promoted from Beta. They make up the core of the software.

Deprecated

A deprecated block is a block that has moved out of production. This means it won’t receive future updates, development work, or bug fixes.
A block is deprecated when there is no longer any need for this block as decided by nTop. This can happen when it is replaced by a beta block or a production block that encompasses the functionality of the deprecated block.
In most cases, you will be prompted to update the blocks upon opening the software. If selected, the blocks will automatically update to their replacement block. If the process is more involved, the appropriate steps and support material will be provided.
Yes, workflows using this block will still run, but we encourage you to update any workflows that utilize this block and avoid further dependencies on deprecated blocks. In the future, any deprecated block may be put into End of Life status. This status signifies that the block will be removed from the software in the future. If the block does enter this phase, all users will receive advanced notice and a timeline of the block’s removal.
To enable deprecated blocks, go to File > Settings > Enable Deprecated blocks. With this setting enabled, you can find all deprecated blocks in the search bar. Deprecated blocks are not found in the Ribbon. Keep in mind that we do not encourage the use of deprecated blocks.
Bug fixes won’t be supported for deprecated blocks. If you encounter a bug, we recommend using the appropriate replacement block to address the issue.

End of Life

When a block enters the End of Life status, it means that the block will be removed from the software in the future. If the block does enter this phase, all users will receive advanced notice and a timeline of the block’s removal.
