About the error

Issue: The specified file is not supported. This can happen when the authoring CAD system is newer than what nTop supports or when it is non-commercial. Applies to:
  • Import Part
Cause: There are two reasons this error may occur when loading a native CAD file format:
  • nTop does not yet support the version of the CAD system that produced the file.
  • The file was authored in a non-commercial version of one of our supported CAD systems, e.g., SOLIDWORKS Education Edition.
Solution:
  • Export the file from your CAD system in an earlier, supported version of the native CAD file format, if available.
  • Export the file from your CAD system as a Parasolid model (.x_t or .x_b) instead.
  • Export the file from your CAD system as a STEP model (.step or .stp) instead.
