Settings are found in File > Settings. After modifying any settings select OK to commit these changes. These changes will be saved locally and will persist for every instance of nTop. Settings can be changed at anytime.

General

Skip home page on startup: Toggle the Home page appearing when you open a new instance of nTop. Show announcements: Show new announcements when creating or opening a file. Announcements are shown once, but can be re-enabled by toggling this setting.

Blocks

Automatic block visibility: When a block runs successfully, all nested blocks will have their visibility set to off. Show beta blocks: Toggles the visibility of beta blocks. Beta blocks are experimental features that are subject to change. You can read more about beta blocks here. Show deprecated blocks: Toggles the visibility of deprecated blocks. Deprecated blocks are featured replaced by new functionality. You can read more about deprecated blocks here. My blocks folder: The location for your imported blocks (custom blocks). Blocks are automatically imported from the folder. The default folder location is C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\nTopology\Myblocks. You can change this folder location.

Scene

Enable GPU acceleration: Toggle GPU acceleration. Read more about GPU acceleration here. Camera control mapping: Choose from a selection of different navigation options. The options provided for different CAD environments map the basic zoom, pan, and rotate functionalities to corresponding keys on the selected CAD tool.
  • The options are:
    • Solidworks
    • NX
    • CATIA
    • Creo
    • nTop (default)
Selection radius (pixels): Selection tolerance in pixels. Selection Radius affects the selection sensitivity.

Ribbon

  • Select which tabs are visible (by using the toggles) and the order in which they appear (by using the arrows on the right).
  • You can always reset to the original display by selecting the Reset Ribbon button at the bottom of the Ribbon settings window.

Display

Theme: Choose between the standard Dark theme or the Light theme (Beta). You need to restart nTop for the change to occur. Viewport background theme: Changes the background color using the themes specified.

Scene Lighting

Enable Ambient Occlusion: Toggle on to improve visualization by conveying the depth of geometry. Read more about the benefits of Ambient Occlusion here.

Glyph Size

Boundary Conditions: Choose the size of glyphs for visualizing applied boundary conditions.

Grid

Display grid: Toggles the visibility of the Grid rendered on the XY plane in the main scene.
  • Size: Size of the grid.
  • Primary spacing: Spacing between major subdivisions in the grid.
  • Subdivisions: Number of minor subdivisions between major subdivisions in the grid.

Ruler

Display ruler: Toggles visibility of the Ruler in the main scene.
  • Orientation: Choose the orientation of the Ruler, either the Top or Bottom of the screen.
  • Alignment: Choose the Ruler 0 alignment. Available options: Left, Right, Center.

Choose your base units. Unit system: Metric, US Customary, Custom. Length: mm, cm, m, in, ft. Time: ms, s, min, hr. Mass: g, kg, tonne, oz, lbm, ton. Temperature: C, F, K. Angle: deg, rad. Choose your compound units. Force: N, kN, lbf. Pressure: Pa, kPa, MPa, GPa, psi, ksi. Frequency: Hz, rad/ms, rad/s, rad/min, rad/hr, deg/ms, deg/s, deg/min, deg/hr. Heat Flux: W/mm², W/cm², W/m², kW/mm², kW/cm², kW/m², MW/mm², MW/cm², MW/m², Btu/in²·ms, Btu/in²·s, Btu/in²·min, Btu/in²·hr, Btu/ft²·ms, Btu/ft²·s, Btu/ft²·min, Btu/ft²·hr.

Data

Autosave: Toggles automatic saving of the file at periodic intervals. Save time interval (minutes): Perform an automatic save at every time interval. Available intervals: 5, 10, 30, and 60 minutes. Autosave folder: Autosaves will be stored in this folder. Send usage data: When checked, nTop will receive anonymous statistics regarding feature usage.
