Issue:

Users have reported receiving a graphics driver error notification and encountering nTop to unexpectedly exit in specific contexts, despite their machines meeting the minimum system specifications.

Cause:

Different factors appear to compound, thereby increasing the likelihood of the seemingly unwarranted error:
  • Resuming use of a running instance of nTop after waking the computer from a sleep state
  • The installation of Windows “quality update” KB5013942
  • The use of one or more monitors in portrait mode

Solution:

If you restart your system, it alleviates the issue but does not guarantee that the same system state can be avoided in the future: if you encounter this error and know your system specs are adequate, it is recommended that you perform a Windows update.
